Berlin has an unstable history. It was the Reich’s capital, became a landscape of rubble, then the socialist showcase city, shop window of the West, frontier city, a divided, a reunited city. There have been many attempts to define Berlin but none of them ever managed to live up to the city’s diversity. With 24h Berlin, an experimantal tv format, portrayed a torn yet vibrant city, a European metropolis.
On September 5th, 2008, 80 camera teams shot footage in Berlin for the multimedia television project 24h Berlin – from 6:00am to 6:00am on the following day. A year later, on September 5th, 2009, the edited material was broadcasted for 24 hours without interruption on the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), as well as on ARTE.
24h Berlin is a project from zero one film, the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), ARTE, the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and TRIAD Berlin.
Anyone had the chance to participate and film their own life in Berlin-for the whole 24 hours, or for just a few minutes.
On behalf of TRIAD Berlin Robert was responsible to build up the digital plattform as an 16 month communication tool and the main public online platform including many explanatory movies and interviews with creators. He was supported
by compuccino and Goldener Westen.
